Because iodine occurs naturally in seaweed, kombu is often used as a natural supplement to a varied diet. Due to its relatively high concentration, a small amount of kombu is usually sufficient.

Use & dosage

Irish kombu is used in soups, broths, rice, and legumes. Add a small piece during cooking to release its flavor and minerals. Due to its high mineral content, a small amount is sufficient. The kombu can be removed after cooking.

Kelp is also used in this way in hot dishes.
